I was both privileged and delighted to be
be invited to take part in the the first
ever Rotherham Children's Book Festival,
and spent most of Friday 7th July there.
The whole festival was a week long event,
and featured visiting speakers and performers,
in some thirteen or so libraries, The Rotherham
Civic Theatre, and even the Children's
Wards of the District General Hospital. Speakers
included Jean Ure, Malcolm Rose, Nigel Hinton,
and David Belbin, whom I met on the Friday
morning. But on the Friday evening,
I, and my longstanding friend Jane,
went to see Roger McGough, OBE; and he was
utterly superb!
